ReMODEL for Independence Advocates

Seminars- are casual, educational, and offer specific suggestions that people might implement.  The material follows AARP guidelines for Aging in Place.

*Ask about the hour long professional CEU for nurses and social workers.  We do professional in-services too!

 

 The Aging Deliberately Series:

No Place Like Home  

  • Discover practical ways to remodel/modify your loved one’s home to promote safe, independent, and comfortable living.
  • Learn which home modifications – large and small – can extend one’s ability to live at home.
  • Review the AARP guidelines for Aging in Place.
  • Explore upcoming innovations in accessibility. Discuss consequences of doing nothing.
  • Includes a step by step survey to use at home.  Also appropriate for aging adults and those with limited access and mobility. Textbook recommended, but not required.

*With prior arrangements specific home remodeling projects for persons with Dementia, Multiple Sclerosis, Parkinson’s Disease or Brain Stem Injuries can be included in the presentation.

About the presenter:
Jeanie Smith, CAPSJeanie Smith recently became one of the select group of professionals nationwide to earn the Certified-Aging-in-Place Specialist (CAPS) designation, identifying her as one of the building industry’s top professionals with skills and knowledge specific to home modifications for aging-in-place.  This CAPS training has been developed by AARP and the National Association of Home Builders, and gave her the confidence to launch her own company, Remodel for Independence. “I am fortunate to have discovered a niche where there is a huge need for qualified professionals. Here my abilities and talents can be focused on helping people”.  Jeanie has the skills and understanding to help homeowners explore options that fit their needs and that will allow them to maintain their independence.

Thursday | April 18 | 6:30 to 8:00 | The Meadows of Glen Ellyn | 60 North Nicoll Avenue,  Glen Ellyn, IL 60137  |  RSVP only | Session Three: Secrets of Elder Care Revealed | A never to be repeated panel discussion consisting of an attorney, a geriatric care manager, a financial professional, home modification expert, and senior housing adviser.  Program is aimed at  adult children caring for an aging family member or friend. Appetizers served.
